Why the hell am I here? Life Purpose 101

Image
So several questions came in last week related to life purpose..... everyone wonders at some point in their life, why am I here?  Do I have any gifts? And what the heck am I supposed to do with them? Valid and powerful questions to explore..... So I went to the crew this morning and presented some of your questions about PURPOSE to see what lovely guidance they had to offer. Me: I have heard a lot of questions come in about WHY are we here? I have my own feelings on that,  but I'd like to hear what you all have to say about it. Ann: A simple way to explain it is that each of you chooses to come here to create and play and experience YOURSELF within the playground of duality.  Duality does not exist in our realm.  Separation does not exist in our realm.  While we are able to remain unique in our expression of the ONE SOURCE of all life, we still feel, know and understand at all times our connection to each other completely.  There are no pr...

Why Bad Shit Happens......

Image
A friend of mine is going through what I would call an extreme challenge.  Her son faced a very difficult situation years ago- he was a teenager and had a long term relationship with a young lady who was also a teenager.  After he turned 18, the relationship ended in a bad break up- as most teenage relationships do.  The young lady, angry about his ending things, decided to make him 'pay' for leaving her and reported to her mother that the relationship had been an intimate one (and perhaps you already know where I'm going with this). Because of our federal laws, this is considered sexual abuse and this young man ended up in prison for 3 years. I remember when it happened.  It sickened all of us who knew and loved him.  How could this happen?  It made no sense to me- the unfairness of it all.  The relationship had been consensual and they were only 2 years apart in age.   Through this whole ordeal, he kept his head high and his heart op...

Leaning into Spirit

Image
There is a gentle force that contains me- that contains all of us within it's embrace. It reminded me yesterday to "Lean in" when I wanted to feel it's calmness, safety and peace. So as a stressful thought offered itself into my mind, I noticed it for what it was, a stressful thought. I took a deep breath, leaned back into my own spine where I felt my truth, my strength and the presence of love, my own Soul, holding me still- to watch, to accept and to detach from the thought. The only thing we ever have control of is our internal experience- and even that takes much awareness and practice to control.  Our mind pulls at us constantly, feeding our fears and the illusion of control. Our mind so often leads the way with thoughts of fear, doubt, lack, anxiety and confusion- even grandiosity and separation.  And in the words of Michael Singer "We can either lean in to Self or fall." To fall, is to try to fix those thoughts and the feelings they create b...

Infinite Love & Reincarnation

Image
A few weeks ago I taught a class on reincarnation and it was powerful for me and for those who attended.  I haven't always believed in past lives.  In fact, I grew up Southern Baptist and was taught, "One shot, that's all you got."  So, when the idea of past lives showed up for me, I struggled to let it in. When my son was a small boy, like the child in this video, he used to say things to me that I found slightly "freaky", like...... "You were my mom the last time I was here but you're not my mom in the next time." "What do you mean next time?", I asked confused. "Next time you work in a big building as a writer I think, but you are best friends with my mom." Huh? "So what's it like there in this 'next time' ", I ask. "There are lots of big silver buildings everywhere." Ok.   Very weird. He was quite young, around the age of 5 and definitely in love with his momma and not...

Birkenstock Jesus

Image
So this morning as I was meditating and prepping for my full day of clients, I focused on the mantra, "I am the Holy Spirit" and it felt calm and good...... about 3/4 of the way through my rose quartz mala beads I felt a hand upon my front right brow.  It itched and tingled like crazy as it moved down my cheek with a stroking sensation.  I was determined not to let my attention drift.. "I am the Holy Spirit, I am the Holy Spirit"... the tingles moved around to the back of my head- Wow!!  They were intense and then graciously they faded out.  When I said my last affirmation, I felt him staring at me. He was sitting on my little couch, where all my clients sit, jeans, blue t-shirt and Birkenstock sandals.  As I looked at his feet, I heard him say, "I thought you'd like that touch of humor".  I knew immediately who it was, my dear brother and friend Jesus/Yeshua- the Holy Spirit.  "Everyone always talks about me as wearing sandals" he said ...

Heaven says.... Just be Yourself.

Image
I recently recorded and watched one of those yearly PBS specials with Wayne Dyer.  (A"must record" so you can fast forward through the every 10 min. sales pitches)  There was a moment for me, as there is every time I watch him, where I was struck by the message I needed to hear. This program, Wishes Fulfilled, featured Wayne talking again about the fundamentals of creating what you want in life (nothing new for me there so........... fast forward) and he spoke about a woman named Anita who had a powerful near death experience and had come to share the wisdom she had gained from it. Hold on a minute- PUT DOWN THE REMOTE!  Bells ringing, alert mind and spine tingling, I began to concentrate on the words she spoke.  Here is what she said that literally sent me into tears. Anita, had multi-system organ failure and was dying in a coma (why I don't know, as my ears weren't paying full attention just yet, oops).  While she was in this coma, she was able to hea...

Note to Self.... You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important

Image
Everyone needs someone to tell them the truth- and only love is the truth.  And, everyone needs someone to speak that truth back to them.  But what do you do when no one shows up to play that role for you?  You become it for yourself! I came across a new show (on CBS news- link is at bottom of post) entitled Note to Self by Maya Angelou, one of my spiritual mentors in this life.  And I was immediately touched and inspired by the idea of writing a letter to my teenage self from the view point of my life now. What would I tell myself? How could I validate and still step back and let that part of me go through her dark night of the soul? All questions I pondered deeply in my meditation this am. As weird as it seemed to me when I first discovered the idea of "no time & all time" in quantum physics- meaning to me (bear with my non-scientific explanation) that the past, present and future all exist right NOW and what we are experiencing really has to do ...

Facing your Inner Hecklers

Image
Waldorf & Statler- The Muppet Show Hecklers Waldorf : These seats are awful.  Statler : Why? Can't you see anything?  Waldorf : That's the problem. I can see everything.  One of the great lessons, I believe, that Jim Henson taught me as a child is to face the hecklers in my life and to recognize they are a natural part of our every day audience. Never are we faced with 100% support by everyone we meet.   There are always going to be those who don't appreciate the performance you are giving the world.  And most likely, they'll let you know about it. And hardly ever do we meet change in our life without some part of us resisting it with nasty or fearful comments- trying to get us to stay right where we are, or to plain ol' just give up and get off the stage. Kermit the Frog, one of my gurus in life, never gave up.  The show must go on! He did however constantly deal with interruptions, complaints and the insecurities and big egos...

Is that a Light at the end of the tunnel?

I love my job.  What's not to love about encouraging others to love themselves, reminding them that God is within them and challenging them to give into their heart's desire? The truth is, in order to get someone to that understanding you have to walk with them through what's holding them back or hurting their heart so deeply they feel they cannot possibly heal.  And this, my friends, is challenging. It's challenging to hear about the loss of a sweet baby, to hear about someone going through a divorce, or someone who just lost their job and their husband in the same week- really challenging. But, I do it anyway.  Why?  Because I know without a doubt, things always get better and our deepest losses can guide us to our greatest joys.  I know because I've walked through my own losses and found God and myself in that pain- sometimes after digging through some knee deep sh*t for so long I was ready to quit.  But that light at the end of the tunnel always,...

Watch where you're going!

“If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” - Lawrence J. Peter I cannot tell you how many times my clients say "I don't know", when I ask the question, "what would give you joy in your life?"  It is so important before you head in any direction in your life to know where you are headed- but most importantly why you want to go there.  We do so many things because we are "supposed to" do them and many times we don't stop and ask ourselves if what we are doing is really helping us accomplish what we want to accomplish- or even if it's necessary for our true happiness. Such as:  What do I want my marriage to feel like? What do I want my job to give to me? What really makes me want to get up everyday? Just asking these questions and (most importantly) taking the time to answer them, can give you a direction, a focus for your energies. Take the time, every single morning, to ask yourself- what do I want from...

Ferris Wheel of Life

Image
Life is a ferris wheel. It goes around and around, up to the top, down to the bottom- where one day we choose to get the hell off. Sometimes the circle flows slowly and lingers at the top, feeling spectacular and fulfilling. And other times, it's f***ing nauseating and feels like the guy running the machine has lost his marbles. Some days I sit back and wonder- is my life just stuck in high gear? I am a perfectly sane, deeply aware and grounded individual, but the chaos around me is almost too much to bear at times. Yet, I'm sticking it out, cause I like that view from the top. Might even admit I'm addicted to it. I love the moments after hell has broken loose, faith was held, truth was spoken and feet were planted firmly in who I am, that I find peace and a deep quiet sense of "see everything does work out for the better". AKA- the View is Great from UP HERE.  Today I'm in that place. The wheel's been spinning fast these last few months. I...

Life can be messy but Courage cleans it up

Image
I took this self portrait a few days ago.  The necklace, which reads "Courage to be ME" was something I made for myself years ago.  On the other side of it is a picture of Calamity Jane, cowgirl boots and her gun included.  Some days, I just need to wear it.  Life has been messy and challenging lately, things are changing all around me and inside of me.  Don't get me wrong my love, I'm up for the challenge, as long as I've got my cowgirl boots and gun at my side (grinning). Really though, joking aside, it's my courage that I find to be my greatest asset in life.  The courage to keep getting up, keep telling the truth, and even when I'm tired to keep asking for more.  It's how I'm made and I trust the one who put it inside of me to teach me how to use it in the best way possible.  So, courage has to be challenged to grow and fear has to be stared down in the face with a bring it on attitude in my world. So let the changes come- let the wor...

A Love Letter to Myself (& to you)

Image
Oh my dear sweet heart, how I cherish you. Your tender heart is soft with tears and open open open. How I long to hold you close to me and bring you a cup of tea, to wrap you in love blankets and sing you a song of you. The world is busy and full, but you can take your time my dear sweet heart.  You will not be left behind. Oh, how the Universe sings when you sit quiet and listen. The freckles on your face remind me of all the angels who have kissed your cheeks whilst you were sleeping. Rest my sweet heart.  Rest your angel heart & wings. All is well and life holds itself awake for your return.

Hypertension & Honoring the Body's Voice

The best way I honor my body is to "listen" to it aches and pains as cries for love and attention. Recently I had my blood pressure taken and it was 128/86 !!!  I was shocked and also, paradoxically, not so surprised. I went home and sat with the information in meditation. It came to my attention that my "hypertension" was really inner anger.  I couldn't immediately identify what I was angry about, but, when I found myself yelling at my son and my husband the next morning about having to micromanage their lives I witnessed myself.  Yikes...... there's my anger and it's ugly today. So, over the next few days the anger began to seep up from my blood vessels to my awareness.  Lordy lordy, I'm seeing anger all over the place in small doses, adding up to a hell of a lot.  So, it's boundary setting time again in my world.  Time to pull the word NO back out of my pocket and use it. I've also booked a trip to Mexico for JUST my hu...
